After 17 successful years in sales, marketing and management development, the Lord reawakened Derek and called him into ministry. He graduated with a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) in Deerfield, IL in 2013. He won the prestigious “Preacher of the Semester” award in 2012, has been part of multiple church plants and pastored a church for almost five years in Palos Hills, IL (southwest suburbs of Chicago). 

Pastor Derek is also the founder and president of Identity In Christ, which is a Christian counseling organization (established in 2013) and incorporated as a non-profit in 2018. Its purpose is to disciple and counsel Christians into the fullness of the victory we have access to in Jesus Christ. 

Pastor Derek has a passion and a gift for teaching, counseling and discipleship. He was the Pastor of Worship and Families at Hidden Valley Community Church (HVCC) in Dodgeville, Wisconsin from 2019 to 2021. Pastor Derek married Jennifer in May 2017. They live in Dodgeville with their three sweet furbabies.
